How to Place Bamboo Mats on the Front Door of a Kitchen Cabinet
Bamboo is a perennial grass that has over one thousand species. There are several different sizes of bamboo, including tiny Poa annua and giant Dendrocalamus giganteus, which are often used as timber. In countries where this plant flourishes, bamboo is used for building, wrapping food items and as decoration in the form of mats. Bamboo mats are mostly associated with sushi-making, as the mats are needed to pack the seaweed, rice and fish tightly together in roll form. Bamboo mats can also be used as a decorative element, since they are easy to find and relatively cheap. One way to give a kitchen an Asian-inspired theme is by attaching a bamboo mat to the front of kitchen cabinets. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Tape measure. Measure the width and height of the face of the kitchen cabinet. If the cabinet is framed, measure within the constraints of the frame or remove it.
-
2
Fine-tooth saw. Cut the bamboo mat so that the height and width coincide with the height and width of the cabinet. Roll the bamboo mat up tightly and cut the excess using a fine-tooth saw. Remove any extra bamboo reeds simply by cutting the string woven through. Tie the string into a knot to keep the rest of the reeds intact.

3
Match the wood glue to the color of the cabinet. Spread glue over the face of the cabinet. Make sure the wood glue is approximately the same color as the cabinet; bamboo mats have spaces in between the reeds and a lighter or darker glue will be visible. Let dry.
