Decide what your coupon will offer--a discount on a purchase, buy one-get one free, a "try-before-buy," a free drink with a meal--whatever you think will attract people to your business. Make sure that you also think through the conditions of the offer. Typically, coupons will have qualifiers such as "while stocks last," "not valid with other offers," or "one coupon per visit." Also, make sure your coupon offer has a time limit. If this is not done, you will be obliged to honor the offer for as long as you remain in business.

Connect to the Internet and go to Google Docs to lay out the coupon. (If you don't have a Google account, you can quickly create one from the Google front page.) Once logged in to the program, click on "Create new" and select "Presentation." This will open a blank slide in a new window. Click on "Slide" on the menu bar and select "Delete slide" (to get rid of the preset format). Click on "Slide" again and then on "New slide" and choose the "Blank" format. This gives you a clear page to work with. Select "Insert" from the menu and then "Shape" and click on the rectangle. Use the handles on the four corners to drag the shape to the size you want. You can now use the other tools to add images, colors and text.

Design your coupon to look attractive and to suggest that it has value. Sometimes, people achieve this by printing dollar signs on the coupon, or by making it look like a bank note. If you are not sure what to do as a design, look at some of the coupons offered by major manufacturers--they have spent thousands of dollars on research to determine what layouts attract the most people. Your design doesn't have to be fancy, but do make sure you include all the terms and conditions. You could also add text above and below the box you created with instructions to cut out the coupon and directions to your location.

Save your design (use the rename menu item to give it a new title) and then go to "File," "Download as," and select PDF (Portable Document Format). Save the file to a location on your computer. You have now created the coupon and just need to put it on your website. Navigate to your website control panel and use the "upload" function to add the PDF document to your site--don't forget to add a reference to it on one or more of your Web pages so that it can be downloaded. If you want to have a picture of the coupon on your site, you will need to scan the coupon document and save it as an image file to upload to your pages.
