How to Convert Mod to Mpeg for Mac OS for Free

The MOD video file format is used by digital video camcorders to capture video. The MOD digital video file can be transferred to a computer for viewing, but cannot be put onto a DVD because it is not a compatible format. You can convert the MOD file on your Mac into the MPEG digital video format that a DVD requires using one of a number of free and free to try out MOD to MPEG converter programs. All of these MOD to MPEG converter programs work in a similar fashion to convert the MOD file into a MPEG file.

Instructions

1. Download a MOD to MPEG converter to the Mac's desktop, for example the free trial version of MOD Convertor for Mac (see the link in Resources). Double-click the icon of the MOD to MPEG converter once it has fully downloaded. Follow the menu prompts to install the MOD to MPEG converter onto the Mac's hard drive.

2. Double-click on the icon of the MOD to MPEG converter to launch it. Click on the "Add files" button. Navigate in the window that appears to the MOD video file on the Mac's hard drive. Highlight the MOD file by clicking on it once with the mouse. Press the "Open" button on the window to load the MOD file into the MOD to MPEG converter and close the window.

3. Click once on the MOD file that is in the center column of the MOD to MPEG converter's main screen. Click on the "Settings" button on the MOD to MPEG converter's main screen.

4. Select the "Common Video" tab in the left column of the window that appears over the MOD to MPEG converter's main screen. Select the type of MPEG video file you want to convert the MOD file into from the pop-up window (example: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4). Click the "OK" button on the window to close the window.

5. Click on the "Browse" button next to or underneath the "Output" tab. Navigate in the window that appears to the desktop of the Mac. Click the "OK" button to close the window.

6. Click the "Convert" or "Start" button on the MOD to MPEG converter's main screen. Wait as the MOD file is converted into an MPEG file and saved to the Mac's desktop. Quit the MOD to MPEG converter once the file has been saved.

Tips & Warnings

• Short videos can first be combined in a video editing program before being converted to the MPEG format.

• Don't have other video programs running while the MOD to MPEG converter program is converting the MOD file.
