How to Airbrush True Fire
Airbrushing is a painting medium that involves using an air-driven gun to deliver paint to a surface. Airbrushing is one of the easiest painting disciplines for a beginner to attempt. While it does take some skill to create from scratch, many beginning artists are able to create simple subjects such as flames after a few attempts.

1
Stencil a flame pattern onto your canvas. Use light red airbrush paint for the base. If you are good at drawing, you can draw a flame in pencil or draw with the airbrush. Use a wide nozzle (0.4 mm or 0.6 mm) to apply the first layer of light red paint.

2
Paint at the base of the flames with a mix of blue and yellow to achieve the look of real fire. The blue and yellow are the hottest parts of the fire. Apply the blue first, then add the yellow and gradually bring it into the red paint, applying the yellow gradually lighter until it fades into the red base paint.

Apply a darker red paint over the top of your light red base. Accent the red flames with orange paint, especially toward the tips of the flames.

4
Using a small needle (0.3 mm), apply thin black lines of paint around the edges of the flame to give them depth. The edges don't need to be applied evenly. Intermittent strips throughout the main body of the flame will also help to add depth.
