How to Make My MySpace Default Picture a Slideshow

Create an animated GIF slideshow for your MySpace profile picture.

MySpace allows you to choose the default photo shown on your profile page from photos you have uploaded to your MySpace photo albums. You can upload photos in JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, and PNG formats. Of these, the GIF image format supports animation, making it perfect for creating a photo slideshow for your profile picture. There are several online MySpace slideshow generators (many which can also use photos from Flickr, Picasa Web Albums, or other online photo collections). Additionally, many image editors, such as Photoshop and the GIMP, can be used to create animated GIFs. MySpaceGens Animated GIF Generator

1. Go to the "MySpaceGens: Animated GIF Generator" site in your web browser. See the References section for a link.

2. Select "Websites/E-mail (320 x 240)" from the "Choose Dimensions" menu under "Step 1."

3. Click the "Add" button on the "Upload Pictures" panel. A standard file chooser window opens. Choose one of your photos and click "Open."

4. Repeat adding pictures until all the photos you want in your slideshow are listed on the "Upload Pictures" panel.

5. Click the "Upload" button. Each photo is uploaded and appears below the "Upload Pictures."

6. Set the number of seconds you want each photo displayed in the box next to the thumbnail. Two to five seconds is a good duration for a slideshow.

7. Click the up/down arrow icon and drag it up or down to move a photo's order in the slideshow.

8. Click "Submit" to generate the slideshow. The page will show you the status of the animated GIF creation. When the slideshow is complete, you will be shown a preview and given a download link.

9. Click the "Save to Computer" link. Save the file to your desktop.

Set Your MySpace Default Picture

1. Log in to MySpace.

2. Select "My Photos" from the "Profile" menu.

3. Click the "Upload Photos" button at the top of the page just below the menu.

4. Select "Desktop" in the left panel of the "Upload Photos" page.

5. Check the check box in the upper-left corner of your animated GIF thumbnail (displayed in the right panel).

6. Select an album from the "Uploaded to" menu under "Select an album or create a new one."

7. Click the "Upload" button. A window will open showing you the status of the upload.

8. Type a caption and click "Done Editing."

9. Select "Edit Profile" from the Profile menu.

10. Click "Basic Info" on the left side of the page.

11. Click the "Change Photo" button below the default photo thumbnail image.

12. Find your animated GIF in your albums and click the round radio button below the thumbnail image. Click "Done."

13. Click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page.

14. Click the "View my profile" link at the top of the page to view your new slideshow profile picture.
