How to Remove the Top From an LG Front Load Washer

You'll need channel lock pliers to remove the top of your washer.

The LG front load washer is a dependable appliance. When you need to make repairs to your LG washer, however, you must remove the top panel to access the inside of the washer cabinet. When your remove the top panel, you can tear down the rest of the cabinet as necessary to troubleshoot and repair the washer. All LG front load washers use the same method to connect the top panel. The only differences will be the number of fasteners to remove.

Step 1

Disconnect the LG front load washer power cord from the wall outlet. Turn off the water supply to the washer at the water spigots coming from the wall.

Step 2

Pull the washer 3 feet away from the wall, and disconnect the water supply hoses from the water inlet valve ports on the back of the washer. You may need a pair of channel lock pliers to loosen the hose connections.

Step 3

Remove the screws securing the back of the top panel to the back of the washer with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Depending upon your model, you will have either two or four screws to remove.

Step 4

Lift the back of the top panel up, and slide the top panel toward the rear wall, which will unhook the top panel from the clips securing the panel in the front of the washer. Lift the top panel off the washer and out of your working area.
