How to Sync a Palm Z22 to Outlook

One of the most important features of the Palm Pilot Z22 is that it can synchronize with Microsoft Outlook. Early PDAs had a lot of difficulty synchronizing with common productivity suites, and many even included custom ones for use on the computer. However, this led to a number of problems integrating PDAs into existing business workflows. Thankfully, newer PDAs such as the Z22 make synchronizing with existing products--especially Outlook--a breeze.

Things You'll Need

  • Palm Pilot Z22 USB adapter
  • Palm Pilot Z22 software installation media
  • Windows computer with Microsoft Outlook

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the Palm Pilot Z22 software install media into your computer. The installer should load automatically; if it does not, open "My Computer", right-click on the CD drive, and click "Autorun". Proceed through the installation wizard.

    • 2

Plug your Palm Pilot Z22 into your computer using the USB adapter. The Palm Pilot software should recognize it automatically.

    • 3

Open the Hotsync application on your Palm Pilot Z22. Its icon is a circle made of two arrows--one red and one blue. This will begin the synchronization process.

    • 4

Wait for the Hotsync application to display a done message. You can now unplug your Z22 or leave it plugged in to charge.

Tips & Warnings

  • Until you get used to synchronization, always back up or write down important information before syncing, since changes from the Palm Pilot can overwrite changes in Outlook, and vice versa.
