In Ohio, becoming a bail bondsman or bail agent does not happen overnight, and the process involves enrolling in classes to first obtain a license, then applying to open bail agent positions in the state. Some states have no commercial bail, and thus have no need for bail agents, but Ohio is not one of them.

Call or email the Ohio Department of Insurance and ask what classes or schools are available in your area for a bail bond license. You must be a licensed bail agent before you can begin working.
