How to Find the Best HDTV Signal
Receiving high-quality, over-the-air, high-definition broadcasts will depend entirely upon the strength of the signal being received by your antenna. To improve its strength, position your antenna in a specific direction, aiming it toward the source of a transmission. You can use the Internet to find out which directions you should aim your antenna to improve the signal strength of specific channels.

1
Go to AntennaWeb.org. This website is dedicating to answering questions regarding high-definition, over-the-air television broadcasts. You can also use the site to find out the exact locations of broadcast towers in your specific area of the country.
-
2
Click "Choose an Antenna." While this web service is mainly aimed at helping you purchase an antenna, you can also use it to properly aim one you already have.
-
-
3
Enter your location information into the boxes you see on the screen. You can choose to enter a full street address or just a ZIP code. Click "Submit."
-
4
View the results on the map you see on screen. This will mark your relative location---or exact location if you entered a street address---as well as the locations of HDTV broadcast towers nearest you. To pick up a stronger signal from a station, move the metal rods on your antenna to face the direction of the broadcast tower. Move the antenna rods as you change channels, if you need to improve the strength of your HDTV signal.
