How to Add Fields with FileMaker Pro 6
FileMaker Pro 6 is a powerful application that is available for both PC and Mac systems. With FileMaker, you can create dynamic databases from scratch or use one of the many included templates. When setting up your FileMaker database, you will need to determine what type of data the file will include and then add corresponding fields to the database's internal structure.

Launch the FileMaker Pro 6 database that you want to add fields to or create a new blank file.

Go to "File" in the top menu bar and select the "Define Fields" option. A pop-up window will open with a list of all the fields currently set up in your database's structure.

Enter a label for the new field in the "Field Name" area.

Choose from one of the eight field type radio buttons. The field type options include text, number, date, time, container, calculation, summary and global.

Click "Create" to add the new field to the database's structure.

Click "Done" to save the database's structure and return to the main database layout. Your new field will appear in the layout.
