How to Turn Off a Remote Car Starter

The car starter has been a mainstay on vehicles around the world since the mid-1990s. Also known as a FOB or keyless entry, the remote starter is used to pop the trunk, lock and unlock the doors and access the car's panic alarm. The system is perhaps most loved for its ability to start the car in advance for up to 10 minutes and from up to a couple hundred feet away. While you can turn the ignition on in advance, you can also turn off the remote car starter with the keyless entry if you decide you are not leaving and do not want to leave the car running.

Instructions

1. Press and hold the lock button on your remote while the car is running in auto-start mode.

2. Wait until the locks on the car repond by flashing. If they do not respond on the first press, press the button again every couple seconds until they respond.

3. Press and hold the start button on your remote for about three seconds until the lights on the car respond again, signifying that the remote car starter has been turned off and the car is no longer running.
