How to Record from a Charter DVR to a Videotape

Although Charter digital video recorders (DVRs) are useful for recording your favorite programs, you are limited to watching them on the television hooked up to the DVR. If you want to watch the program on another television, unhook the DVR from the first television and connect it to the second television--or record the program onto a videotape with a VCR.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the DVR's RCA cables into the "Video In" and "Audio In" jacks on your VCR. Change your television to the channel that you use for your VCR.

    • 2

Press the "My DVR" button on the remote control to access your list of recorded programs.

    • 3

Highlight the program you want to record to videotape and press "OK."

    • 4

Select the "|<" icon and press "OK."

    • 5

Start recording on your VCR when the program starts playing. Refer to your VCR's instruction manual for instructions. The program on your DVR will play, and the VCR will record it onto videotape.
