How to Make a Net Scrub

Nylon net scrubbies are versatile. You can use them to wash dishes, scour pots, rub bugs off your car windshield and clean your tub and shower. You can even use them in place of a bow on a gift box. Moreover, they are inexpensive and easy to make.

Instructions

  1. Sew

      Iron a half yard of 72-inch-wide nylon net with a warm but not hot iron until it is smooth.

      Cut the nylon net into three 6-inch by 72-inch strips. Lay them on top of each other.

      Thread the needle with nylon thread, cotton yarn or dental floss. Using a loose running or basting stitch, sew down the middle of the strips lengthwise until they are sewn together.

      Hold the thread in one hand, and pull back on the nylon net to gather it and form a ball. Wrap the ends of the thread around the center of the ball three times and knot tightly. Trim off the thread ends.

      Pull apart the layers of net to fluff.

    Knit

      Cut one yard of net, 72 inches wide, into 2-inch strips. Tie or sew the ends of the strips together and wind into a ball.

      Cast 20 stitches onto size 11 needles, leaving a 6-inch tail.

      Knit in garter stitch until your have formed a square. Cast off.

    Crochet

      Cut three yards of nylon netting into 1 1/4-inch strips. Tie or sew the ends of the strips together and wind into a ball.

      Chain four stiches, and join together with a whip stitch. Chain two and double crochet into a circle. Chain two and double crochet twice into each slot, giving you three double crochet.

      Join together with a whip stitch and knot. Cut loose ends.
