Instructions

  1. Preparation

    • 1

Find a level area to pitch your tent. Remove stones and branches from the area.

    • 2

Put down the ground cloth, take your pegs and mallet, and hammer down the pegs through the grommeted holes in the ground cloth. Ground cover is essential to keep the damp soil from reaching the tent floor as you are camping.

    • 3

Lay the ridge pole on the ground in the area where you will later place it on the tent.

    • 4

Mark out where the first four tent pegs will go by the corners of the ground cover. Pound the pegs in the ground after you have decided on your pegging points. The remaining pegs go where you will place the tent's front and back.

    • 5

Assemble the ridge pole and open up the tent with the loops showing. Thread the ridge pole through the loops on the top of the tent.

    Raising The Tent

    • 6

Put the upright poles into the grommeted holes at each end of the tent.

    • 7

Attach the main guy lines, the door and rear lines, to the tent dollies. Tent dollies are pieces of wood used for added stability. Place the tent dollies on the upright poles.

    • 8

Stand the tent upright by tying the main, door and rear, lines to the pegs. This is usually a two-person job.

    • 9

Attach the remaining guy lines to the tent and to the pegs. Make sure the guy lines are firmly attached to the pegs with strong knots and the pegs are deep enough in the ground.
