How to Increase Performance With a Supercharger

Automotive superchargers are one of the biggest performance upgrades you can install in an engine. The supercharger works by spinning air rapidly in a turbine. This motion compresses the air before it is forced into the combustion chamber. Compressed air inside the compression chamber allows for bigger, more violent explosions, which in turn drastically increases the automobile's power. Though the supercharger is a large performance upgrade it can be supplemented with various smaller upgrades to increase performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Install an air to air intercooler. This will take the hot, compressed air that exits your supercharger and uses fresh air from outside of the engine bay to cool it. The result of this is that the air is even more compressed and will create a bigger more efficiently burning explosion.

Install a high-flow air intake system. The supercharger you have in your automobile is very efficient at compressing and condensing air. As a result the more air it has access to, the better it will be able to do its job. A high-flow air intake system will feed more air into your supercharger, increasing performance.

Replace your standard supercharger pulleys with high performance pulleys. High performance pulleys will change the ratio between the main crank pulley and the one attached to your supercharger, causing your supercharger to spin more per crank pulley turn. This increased spinning will cause your supercharger to provide more air, and in turn more power, to your engine.
