How to Fix a Blackberry Ringtone

Blackberry has reported problems with ringtone levels and they have fixed these issues in a new version of the operating software. This can be download at the Blackberry website (see: References 1). However, if the problem with the ringtone is more complicated, you might consider using a ringtone editor to get the exact sound you want.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the ringtone editor. A popular software available for free demo is Simprit's MiniRingtone (see References 1).

    • 2

Import a music file using the the "File" button at the top of the program. You can also choose a file from iTunes if you wish by pressing the "iTunes" button.

    • 3

Play the imported audio track and find the portion that you like. The audio track will display as a waveform in the editor, and the Play button is in the menu bar at the top.

    • 4

Highlight the portion of the track that you want as a ring tone. You can more easily identify the beginning and endpoints by looking for "landmarks" of sorts, such as peaks or valleys, on the waveform. You can also right-click and choose "Edit Selection," which will give you a time-code map to be more precise with the cuts.

    • 5

Connect the Blackberry via USB. Be sure that "Mass Storage" mode is enabled so that the computer will recognize the device.

    • 6

Press "Next" to export the file as a ring tone to the Blackberry ringtone library. Once the transfer has completed, you can set the ring tone through the regular procedure of accessing the Profiles menu on the Blackberry, or through the Media library.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also edit existing ringtones by dragging them from the Blackberry to the desktop and then importing them into the editor.
