How to Make a Yellow Jacket Mascot Costume
Mascots add spirit and excitement to any sporting event or game. Mascot costumes can prove expensive, so you might opt to make your very own, which not only cuts the cost but also gives you the chance to create a costume exactly the way you want it to look. If you want to make a yellow jacket mascot costume, you can incorporate items you already have around the house with a few inexpensive buys from your local craft store.

1
Purchase a black sweat suit, or use a black sweat suit you already have that is in good condition.
-
2
Measure and cut large pieces of yellow felt. Measure the felt so that it is long enough to be wrapped around the perimeter of the sweatshirt. It will need to be snug enough so that no lumps or gaps are showing.

-
3
Secure the yellow felt with either fabric glue or a needle and thread. Include at least three or four pieces of felt so that the effect of stripes works well against the black sweatshirt.
-
4
Purchase a pair of insect antennae from a craft or costume shop. These often come in the form of a headband as well.
-
5
Create a stinger for the back of the costume. Cut and wrap a large medium-sized piece of black felt into a triangle. Wrap the felt so that it has a hollow opening and secure the opening side with fabric glue or needle and thread. Sew the felt stinger onto the back of the sweatpants.

6
Finish your costume with wings. A pair of strap-on insect wings can be found at many craft stores and costume shops. If this is not an option, you can cut out two large pieces of black or yellow felt in the shape of wings and secure them to the back of the sweatshirt with either fabric glue or needle and thread.
