How to Embed Shockwave Games

Downloading games is a thing of the past. Now, with the ability to embed game files within your blog or website, you will be able to have dynamic websites that mirror the designs of the actual game developers. Game makers like Shockwave have made their games available to be embedded free on websites other than their own. They do this to drive in traffic without having to actually promote their games or their website. All of the games say Shockwave on them and many of the games get you to eventually visit the site if you want to buy or download other games or upgraded versions.

Instructions

  1. Embedding Shockwave Games

    • 1

Visit the Shockwave.com website and look for a game you would like to add to your website. Once at the game page you will see a link that says "Share this Game." Click on this link and the game sharing options will pop down. Then look off to the right for the option that says embed game. Copy and paste the code and go to your website or blog.

    • 2

Paste the copied game code into your blog post as HTML or upload to a Web page as HTML. Once the page is saved you should be able to now go to the page and see the game that you embedded.

    • 3

Change the code text or dimensions to fit with your site. These same directions can be applied to any free Flash game available to embed. Some sites like Shockwave offer a thumbnail, but if you want to make a cool thumb preview picture that comes up next to your game title, then take a screen shot inside the game. I usually look for a catchy part in the game and take a screen shot of that by hitting print screen (Prt Scr) and then editing the photo in a program like Photoshop.

Once your game is embedded and you have the thumbnail picture you want, add a unique game description and title for the game so people will be more likely to find your embedded games through search engines. Describe the game and controlling options in your own words and give the game a title that is something that people might type in to a search engine but not the exact name of the game. As an example, if the game was called Space Invaders you could retitled it Invading Space. The key is to have keywords and phrases that people will search for that are not found elsewhere on the Web. This will eliminate most of the competition if you are trying to make money with embedded Shockwave games. Many site owners who embed Shockwave games want to earn money with their site so they join the Shockwave Affiliate Program for free. When an affiliate of Shockwave directs people to Shockwave.com, and people generate revenue by buying download games, you will earn a commission.
