Gather the jar or jars you will be using for this project. Make sure the jar has lip, a raised area, around the top of the jar. The lip will be used to hold the wire in place.

Wrap the wire under the lip of the mason jar. Pallensmith.com states that 24 inches of wire is ideal for this project. Once you get the correct length of wire, cut it with the wire cutters, and begin to wrap it. The wire should be wrapped under the lip, forming a ring.

Twist the wire together to close the ring and secure it in place. Tighten the wire around the jar but make sure there is room, so you can remove the ring in the future. According to pallensmith.com, you will have an excess of 16 inches left of wire, 8 inches on each side, after closing the ring.

Bend the excess wire with the pliers, to create a handle at the top. Secure the handle by attaching the rest of the wire to the ring you just made.

Place a votive candle into the jar. You can use any color and any scent you desire.
