How to Create Free Flowchart Templates

Flowcharts are a type of chart that represents a process, or series of steps. Flowcharts are typically made up from various geometric shapes (for example, squares, parallelograms and hexagons), connected by arrows in one or more directions. Traditionally, the symbols each have a specific meaning. For example, a diamond (rhombus) represents a decision, and a circle or oval represents the start and finish. Many different types of applications can assist you with creating flowcharts. Two of the most common are Microsoft Excel and Inspiration.

Instructions

1. Decide which program you'd like to use for your flowchart.

2. Locate a website for the program. For example, visit Microsoft's website for Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, or Word Templates. Breezetree also has a selection of templates for use with Excel.

3. Browse the website to find the template that fits your needs.If you're looking for a more specialized template, there are thousands available on the Internet. For example, Duke University's Office of Information Technology offers a selection of project management templates.

4. Press the "download" button or click on the provided link to download the file to your computer.

5. Open the template in your desired program.
