How to Create Graphic Calculator Programs

While there are many calculators on the market, only a few allow you to create and upload your own programs. One such calculator, the TI-89, is a powerful, hand-held calculator. It contains a computer algebra system that enables you to manipulate algebraic expressions. The calculator also allows you to create and upload your own TI Basic programs. This feature means that you can create programs to assist you with tests and exams.

Things You'll Need

• TI Connect program
• USB cable

Instructions

1. Save your TI Basic file to a convenient location on your computer. You will need to drag the file to the TI Connect icon, so a convenient location might be on the desktop.

2. Plug the USB from your calculator to your computer.

3. Drag and drop your program from its location on your computer to the TI Connect program's icon. The program should automatically transfer to your calculator.

Tips & Warnings

• If you have the TI Connect software open, open the TI Device Explorer, and drag and drop the program onto the dialog with the file system.

• More experienced users can also create programs in Motorola 68000 assembly language or C. You'll need to translate these types of program to machine language before proceeding.
