An expensive watch can cost many hundreds of dollars, and even cheaper watches are coveted possessions, sometimes difficult to replace. Whether the watch is a sport watch, a Rolex or an average dress watch, water damage can wreak havoc on the device. Things You'll Need

  • Lint-free cloth
  • Hair dryer
  • Plastic bag
  • Silica packs or dry, uncooked rice
  • Towel or paper towel

      Wipe the outside of the watch with a lint-free cloth to remove all surface moisture.

      Place the watch underneath a bright light bulb or in sunlight for an hour to remove any minor condensation.

      Use a low setting on a hair dryer to evaporate moisture.

      Place your watch in a small plastic bag with silica gel packets or dry, uncooked rice to absorb the moisture. Leave the bag somewhere warm and dry overnight.

      Remove the back of the watch and gently wipe the inside pieces of the device if moisture remains. Carefully place the separate pieces on a dry towel or paper towel to dry overnight.
