How to Make a Homemade Ghost Out of Pillowcases

For some easy Halloween decorations, homemade ghosts can be made out of pillowcases. These pillowcase ghosts can be hung from the trees in a yard--if it's a windy night, they'll look especially spooky. Use old pillowcases to make ghosts, because you'll cut and mark on the material, making them unusable later as pillowcases. Putting the whole thing together will only take a few minutes.

Things You'll Need

• Old pillowcases
• Balloons
• String
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Black permanent marker

Instructions

1. Cut a hole in one corner of the pillowcase.

2. Blow up a balloon and tie it off.

3. Tie a string around the knot of the balloon.

4. Pull the string through the hole in the pillowcase. Arrange the pillowcase around the balloon so that it looks like a ghost, with the closed corner in the back. Pencil in a face for the ghost.

5. Remove the balloon and draw over the face on the sheet using black permanent marker. Replace the balloon inside the sheet.

6. Hang the ghost from a tree branch using the string.

Tips & Warnings

• White pillowcases work best or very light-colored ones.

• You can cut the bottom half of the pillowcase into fringes for a drifting effect.
