How to Repair Intex Inflatable Swimming Pools
Swimming in a backyard pool is fun and exciting, providing the pool is full of clean, clear water. Intex inflatable pools have two areas that spring leaks, causing water (and fun) to escape. A hole in the liner will cause water to escape. Similarly, if air escapes from the top ring of the pool, the pool will collapse. Both the pool itself and the inflatable ring are made of vinyl, which can be repaired with any standard vinyl repair kit. Does this Spark an idea?

Pool Repair
-
1
Clean the area of the leak before patching. If possible, drain the water in the pool to the level of the leak. However, a good underwater, wet patch kit will work well without draining the pool. Since inflatable Intex pools do not have a metal barrier them, it is possible to place a dry patch on the outside wall and a wet patch on the inside wall.
-
2
Cut the vinyl patch a half-inch larger than the hole in the shape of a circle or oval with no corners. A corner edge will peel up over time, compromising the patch.
-
-
3
Apply the adhesive to both the liner wall and the patch, if performing a dry patch (such as from the exterior of the pool). If the patch area is underwater, apply the glue only to the patch and fold it in half.
-
4
Wait three minutes before pressing the patch to the vinyl liner, even for underwater application.
-
5
Press the patch to the vinyl. Starting from the middle, press out all air and water from beneath the patch. Make certain the edges are flat. Wait 10 minutes and press again.
Inflatable Ring Care
-
6
Inflate the ring enough that it floats but not to full capacity.
-
7
Check for pressure buildup on hot days. As the sun heats the air in the ring, pressure can build, causing a leak.
-
8
Release and/or fill the top ring with air as necessary.
