How to Transfer iPhotos from a Macbook to an iMac
Whether you're a professional photographer or enjoy photography as a hobby, keeping your photo library in order is of the utmost importance. iPhoto is a photo editing and organizing program for the Mac that can be transferred by syncing it with a server such as MobileMe or burning the photos to a backup disc. When transferring photos from a Macbook to an iMac, it is highly recommended to have several backups just in case of data loss.

Transfer Using MobileMe

Open "System Preferences" on your Macbook. Click the "MobileMe" icon and click the "Sign In" button. Enter your member name and password and click "Sign In."

Click the "Finder" icon on your dock. Click "iDisk" under the "Devices" section located in the sidebar. Click "File" at the top of the screen and select "New Finder Window."

Go to your "Pictures" folder and select the photos you wish to transfer by clicking and holding the "Shift" key to select multiple files. Drag and drop the files into the "iDisk" window and into the "Pictures" folder.

Open your Internet browser on your iMac. Go to "me.com" and type in your member name and password. Click the "Log In" button and click the "iDisk" icon, the third icon from the right.

Click the "Pictures" folder and highlight the picture you wish to download by clicking it once. Click the "Download" button.
Using a Backup Disc

Insert a blank CD or DVD-RW disc into your Macbook's disc drive. Click the "Finder" icon on your dock and drag your photo files to the name of the blank disc located on the sidebar.

Click the blank disc icon on your sidebar. Click the "Burn" button to begin burning your files to the disc.

Insert the newly burned disc into the iMac's disc drive. Click the "Finder" icon on your dock and click the disc icon on the sidebar. Highlight the photos and drag them to your "Documents" or "Pictures" folder to transfer them.
