How to Mount a GPS to a Snowmobile
Just as you can use a GPS (global positioning satellite receiver) in your car to help you navigate routes and find your way if you are lost, you can also use GPS on a snowmobile. Depending on the model of the snowmobile you have, you can mount the GPS in several places where it is easy to use while you are snowmobiling. Some manufacturers, such as SledGPS, make GPS maps of snowmobile trails in 27 states.

1
Select a place on the dash of your snowmobile where you will be able to see and operate the GPS receiver while you are seated. Make sure that you can operate any side buttons on your GPS unit without having to remove the unit from the mount to avoid hitting any other controls. Also make sure that you are placing the unit in an area where you can drill holes into the dash without damaging anything inside the snowmobile.

2
Purchase a heated snowmobile GPS mount. There are several models available, including Ram Mount and Touratech mounts, which are made for snowmobiles.

Follow the mounting instructions exactly. Each kind of mount will have slightly different requirements for mounting the hardware to the dash and connecting it to the snowmobile's battery. If you are uneasy about handling wiring yourself, your local snowmobile shop can install the mount for you.
