How to Fix iPod Mini Parts

The iPod mini is a much loved model of Apple's iPod family, but was discontinued in favor of newer models. Owners who wish to continue using the iPod mini will eventually confront a defective battery that can no longer power the iPod mini. Fixing the iPod mini by replacing the battery part can be done without having any electronic skills, although you will need to open up the iPod mini's case. Instructions

    • 1

Use the utility knife to pry off the iPod mini's plastic top. Put the plastic top aside. Use the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver to remove the two screws at each end of the now exposed iPod mini case's top.

    • 2

Use the utility knife to pry off the bottom case of the iPod mini. Bend each of the four clips that are now exposed inward using the utility knife. Pull the metal base out from the end.

    • 3

Gently lift the black connector at the end inside of the case upward. Slide the circuit board out of the iPod mini case.

    • 4

Flip the circuit board upside down and put it on the towel. Lift up on the battery and disconnect the connector cable going to the circuit board by pulling it straight out of the circuit board.

    • 5

Plug the connector cable of the replacement iPod mini battery into the circuit board. Place the replacement iPod mini battery into position on the circuit board. Put the circuit board back into the iPod mini case. Reassemble the iPod mini. Turn the iPod mini on and enjoy using it now that you have fixed it by replacing the defective iPod mini battery with a new one.
