How to Organize Labels

It is easy to organize labels. One of the most obvious ways to do this is to separate the labels by size. If there is writing on the labels, organizing them alphabetically or numerically might be best. Arrange the labels according to what best suits your needs.

Instructions

    • 1

Spread out labels of varying sizes on a table or the floor. Pick up labels of the largest size and stack them together like a deck of cards. Do the same things for labels of medium size. Then move to the labels of the smallest size. Place these labels in a file cabinet on a shelf identified with the word "label." Place the separate stacks in a row from left to right, with the largest size on the left, and the smallest size on the right, or vice-versa. If you have a business card display holder, this would work as well to keep them separated.

Separate labels of different colors by stacking them according to hue in piles, like a deck of cards. Place the labels in a row on the shelf of an office storage cabinet or in their own holder.

    • 3

Alphabetize labels that have names or words written on them. Organize according to the first name, unless the last name as been written first. If this is the case, alphabetize the labels using the last name. Follow the same procedure for labels that have words written on them. For labels with numbers, place them in numerical order.

    • 4

Separate very large stacks of labels into smaller stacks that are easier to handle and store. Use a rubber band to keep them separated from each other. Labels that do not come separated but are attached to sheets of paper like stickers or as perforated sheets of labels, such as Christmas labels, might best be organized by leaving them on the sheet of paper until ready for use. Labels that have already been separated from their perforation may best be organized by keeping a large paper clip on them.
