How to Hook Rabbit Ears to a TV With No Cable

Cable and satellite television services, although extremely reliable with a wide range of channels , can be rather expensive. So if you are tight on funds or simply don't watch much TV, you may be better off just connecting your TV to a "rabbit ears" antenna and watching local broadcast television. However, with broadcasters now required to transmit a digital signal, you need to have a digital converter box connected to your television before you can use rabbit ears.

Things You'll Need

• Coaxial cable
• TV
• Digital converter box
• "Rabbit ears" antenna

Instructions

1. Connect a coaxial cable into the "Out" port on the back of the digital converter box. This box is going to act just like a cable box. Once connected you change your channels through the converter box remote and not the TV's.

2. Plug the other end of the cable into the "In" port on the back of the television. If you have an older television this may be the only port actually on the TV. It is a single, circular port with a small hole directly in the middle of it.

3. Plug the rabbit ears antenna into the "In" port of the digital converter box.

4. Power on both the television and the digital converter box. Adjust the television to either channel 3 or 4 (depending on what the default station is for the TV). You should begin to see content on the TV screen.

5. Adjust the rabbit ears to better receive local TV broadcasts.
