How to Draw a Car Headlight

Drawing cars (or car parts) is not unlike drawing any other object in the physical world: it's about drawing what you see, down to the last detail. In this case, drawing a car headlight means first determining what kind of headlight on what model of car you'll be creating.

Things You'll Need

• Paper
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Eraser
• Black ink (optional)

Instructions

1. Draw a rectangle in the center of your paper, sized according to your desired measurements for your drawing. Erase the sides of your rectangle, then draw the slides slanted to the left at 60-degree angles.

2. Erase the pointed angles on your shape and redraw them with smoother contours so that the rectangle will resemble the contours of a car headlight. Draw an oval inside the center of the rectangle (the actual "headlight"). Draw a square to the left of the oval, once again creating contours to the square's edges.

3. Draw another smooth square to the right of the oval (the "parking lights"). Erase any errant lines. Add a few lines sporadically to the headlight to signify the texture on most headlight surfaces. Trace your drawing with the black ink for a more realistic 3D look.
