How to Use Verifone Omni 3200

Save

The Verifone Omni 3200 is a credit card machine that businesses can purchase in order to allow their customers to pay via credit or debit card. The installation process is rather simple and can be a powerful asset in an economy that is turning to plastic instead of traditional paper money. While the premise of the 3200 is simple, it can take a bit of practice before it can be used with complete confidence. The following guide will teach the process of using the Omni 3200.

Instructions

Place the Omni 3200 on a flat surface near a telephone line and power supply.

Plug the power adapter into the wall socket and attach it to the 3200.

Connect an active, dedicated phone to the device. Optimally, the phone cord should be plugged directly into telephone jack.

Turn on the Omni 3200 by pressing the green power button located on the bottom right side of the keypad. A small red light next to the LCD screen should blink on and off, indicating that the paper roll needs to be filled.

Press the button on the right side of the device to remove the paper roll cover.

Loosen the edge of the paper roll (included in the 3200 kit).

Hold the paper roll in such a way that it will feed the paper from the bottom.

Place the paper onto the spindle inside the paper roll cradle.

Close the paper roll lid.

Slide a credit or debit card through the card reader with the magnetic strip facing toward the keypad.

Type the amount that is due when prompted and press the green “Enter” button.

Choose the type of transaction it will be: debit or credit. Press "F1" for debit and "F2" for credit.

Instruct the customer to enter his or her PIN number if “debit” was chosen.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you run out of paper, the Omni 3200 uses high-grade thermal printer paper that is 2.25 inches wide and 82-feet long.
  • The user manual can instruct you on how to attach addition hardware to the device, such as a separate keypad for the customer to enter his or her PIN number.
