Smokers know stained teeth when they see them, usually in the mirror. The Dental Health Foundation of Ireland reports that most smokers' teeth stains are caused by tar deposits. So how do you remove these stains and whiten teeth naturally? In his book, "Resourceful & Ingenious Uses of Baking Soda," George Hughes, aka TipKing, recommends trying a baking soda and salt solution.
Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Hydrogen peroxide
Mix together one part baking soda and one part salt.
Gently brush the mixture onto teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush.
Rinse and brush with fluoride toothpaste.
For extra whitening power, end with a homemade mouthwash solution of 1 tbsp 3 percent hydrogen peroxide mixed into 1 cup of water. Swish for 30 to 60 seconds and spit out. Do not swallow!
