If you are having problems with your Maytag clothes dryer, the first thing you should do is to remove the front panel. From here, you can access the high limit thermostat, the operating thermostat, the heater, the thermal fuses and the door switch. There are two common types of Maytag clothes dryer front panels--the standard front panel and the newer L-shaped front panel.

Standard Panel

Step 1

Unplug the Maytag clothes dryer from the power source. Remove the two screws on the front panel. You will find them approximately 4 inches from the bottom, under the beveled edge.

Step 2

Lift the door slightly and pull back. The door and the hinges will disengage. Put the door aside.

Step 3

The front panel of the Maytag clothes dryer is shaped like a goal post. Grasp the skinny, upper sides and wiggle them back and forth to unclip the panel. Pull the skinny ends of the front panel toward you, lifting it off the bottom clips. Set the front panel aside.
