How to Make All-but-Instant Holiday Cookies

When holiday spirits soar but year-end pressures mount, these cookies can save the day. They'll send those old-time aromas wafting from your kitchen - and give your kids a chance to practice their baking skills - in a fraction of the time it takes to make a batch of cookies from scratch.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Icing
  • Sugar Cookie Dough
  • Cookie Sheets
  • Cooling Racks
  • Holiday Cookie Cutters
  • Knife
  • Oven Mitts
  • Knife
  • Oven Mitts
  • Cookie sheets
  • Oven mitts
  1. Step 1

    Go to your closest neighborhood grocery store and buy rolls of refrigerated sugar cookie dough.

  2. Step 2

    Slice each roll into 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch circles.

  3. Step 3

    Leave some of the circles as they are.

  4. Step 4

    Cut others into shapes, using small cookie cutters.

  5. Step 5

    Bake according to the directions on the package.

  6. Step 6

    Decorate the finished cookies using store-bought tubes of icing.

on 11/22/2005 Get the cookies that are already formed in a block. cut each block in half. Roll one half in a ball and roll in sugar, place on cookie sheet and flatten. The other side, cut in half. each smaller piece is to be rolled in a ball and rolled in suger, place 1" apart at the edge of the larger ball..DO NOT FLATTEN. Bake by package directions. Remove from oven and immediately place 2 mini-M & M's (same color) for the eyes and 1 chocolate chip for the nose. Push them in so they will stay when cookie cools.
