Instructions

    • 1

      Put on all protective gear.

    • 2

Mark the location of the lock-set jig tool using the instructions that come with the lock set and a marking pen. The lock instructions will tell you the exact location to drill your holes for the lock itself and the latch and strike plate. The jig tool clamps onto the door, and has holes with which you can line up your drill or router when drilling out the holes.

    • 3

Attach the proper size hole saw to the cordless drill. Place it in the jig hole position and drill out the lock-set hole. Some lock-set jig kits come with the proper size hole saw and router bits, so you may not need them separately.

    • 4

Drill out the latch hole, using the jig set hole location tool. Then rout out the latch plate area with the router. The jig has built in lines and grooves, so just follow the jig and the exact instructions that come with it.

    • 5

Insert the latch mechanism inside the hole. Loosely screw on the latch plate with a screwdriver. Look at the instructions to determine which direction the latch should face. Sometimes it doesn't matter; sometimes it must face a specific direction.

    • 6

Insert one side of the deadbolt into the lock-set hole loosely. Do the same with the other half. Again, pay attention to the direction this is to be installed by following the instructions. Tighten down the two screws loosely with the screwdriver.

    • 7

Close the door a few times and make any minor adjustments. Then tighten down all screws.
