How to Hang a Bathroom Mirror on a Flat Wall
Because you must have a mirror in your bathroom, knowing how to install one yourself can save you money, plus you have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself. When you have your supplies on hand, installing a mirror can take about an hour or so. Some mirrors come with mounting brackets and screws, and you only need a drill and a stud finder. Otherwise, you can find mounting brackets in hardware stores or online. Ideal for flat walls, mounting brackets allow you change your mind at a future date and rehang a mirror on another wall. Things You'll Need
- Pencil
- Measuring tape (optional)
- Stud finder
- Drill and bit
- Mirror mounting brackets with screws
- Square or rectangular bathroom mirror

Place the mirror you plan to hang in your bathroom against the wall in the area exactly where you want it to lie. While holding the mirror against the wall with one hand, mark all four corners of the mirror as well as the top and the bottom edge of the mirror lightly on the wall with a pencil.

Set the mirror aside.

Locate the studs on the bathroom wall along the marked areas you want the mirror to hang.

Mount two lower hanging, mirror mounting brackets on the bottom of where the mirror will lie, using a drill to screw them into the studs. Align the lip or shelf of these brackets with the mark you made on the wall for the bottom mirror edge.

Mount the two upper brackets, drilling them into the studs. These brackets contain a clips that slide down and lock into place once you have the mirror in position. Leave the clips in the brackets for now.

Pick up and place the lower edge of the mirror carefully onto the two lower bracket shelves and press the mirror back against the wall. While holding the mirror against the wall, make certain you have the mirror positioned the way you want it, sliding the mirror to the left or right to center it if necessary.

Reach up while supporting the mirror with your other hand and lock the clips sitting in the two upper brackets into place over the top edge of the mirror. You now have a mirror securely attached to the flat bathroom wall.

Tips & Warnings
Use more than four mirror brackets if you need to, especially for a large mirror. Space and mount the brackets evenly across the bottom and top into the studs.
Measure the width and length of your mirror using a measuring tape and mark the measurements on the wall, especially when you have a large, heavy mirror.
For oval-shaped mirrors, you may need fewer clips, depending on the mirror size. Place the clips strategically to ensure the mirror stays in place.
