How to Modify an Airsoft Gun
The Airsoft line of pistols and rifles were an instant hit among gun enthusiasts, spurring many to use the plastic BB firing weaponry for safe target practice or backyard war games. Airsoft guns have been noted for their realistic designs based on actual military issued guns like the MP5 and the M-16, yet many choose to go the extra mile by modifying the firing mechanism on their weapons, thus allowing their guns to carry more ammo. This can be done on Airsoft pistols.

1
Remove the ammo cartridge prior to beginning any work to allow you better access to the gun's internal components. Use the Philips-head screwdriver to move the holding screws on the grip, taking care not to lose the spring that will come loose when the grip comes apart. Finish taking the gun apart and set the pieces aside.
-
2
Find the large metal plate inside the gun. The plate's purpose is to provide weight to the gun to add realism and it can be removed by inserting the flat-head screwdriver underneath it's edge and popping it out. Do this and set the plate aside.

3
Locate the pathway the BBs take from the ammo cartridge to the barrel. You'll notice at the tail end of the path, near where you removed the plate, a small notch to prevent overloading. File this notch down until it is smooth. Insert the plate back into the gun.

4
Blow away any plastic debris that may result from filing the notch, then reassemble the pieces of the gun and replace all the screws (remember to re-insert the spring). Re-insert the cartridge and load it as you normally would. The gun will now be able to hold more ammo.
