Directions for Making a Sailors Bracelet thumbnail
Nylon string can be used to make a sailor's bracelet.

A sailor's bracelet, also known as a sailor's knot bracelet, is braided all the way around. Nylon or cotton string can be used to make a sailor's bracelet. The bracelet is made while it's on your wrist, so it can be put on and taken off by simply sliding the bracelet over the wrist.

Instructions

    • 1

Take a 3-yard piece of three-ply nylon that is 1/8 of an inch thick, and wrap it around your wrist twice.

    • 2

Take the end of the string that is hanging off the wrist and pass it under the right strand and over the left strand.

    • 3

Keep the long part of the string over to the left.

    • 4

Take the remaining two strands of string wrapped around your wrist and twist them together.

    • 5

Hold the twist together with one hand while using the other hand to weave the long string in and out of the twisted string, so it looks like a braid.

    • 6

Continue weaving all the way to the end of the bracelet, and then weave it through again.

    • 7

Continue the weaving process until there is no string left.
