How Do You Bar Lace Your Skateboarding Shoes?
Bar lacing has become a popular fashion on not only skateboarding shoes, but also tennis shoes, casual shoes and even boots. Bar lacing creates a streamlined look as you take a few jumps on your skateboard or just hang out with your friends. Bar-laced shoes also provide a surprising benefit if you have an active lifestyle. If you injure your foot or ankle, bar lacing is easy to cut through with scissors or a knife to quickly remove the shoe. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place the shoe so the toe is facing away from you. Find the middle of the lace by letting the two ends dangle freely to make sure both sides are even.
-
2
Take the left end of the lace in your left hand and thread it into the first eyelet on the left side, closest to the toe. Thread the other end of the lace through the first eyelet on the right side. The lace should now run straight across the first set of eyelets. Pull the lace until there is about half a lace on both sides.

3
Thread the left lace up through the second eyelet on the left side. Pull it out the eyelet and run it straight across and down through the second eyelet on the right side.
-
4
Keep the same lace in your hand and thread it up through the fourth eyelet, skipping one in between. Pull it out the eyelet and run it straight across and down through the fourth eyelet on the left side. Keep in mind that this lace will run straight across the even-numbered set of eyelets.
-
5
Continue threading the same lace straight across, moving toward the heel, making sure to skip one eyelet before you run the lace straight across. Continue this pattern until you get to the last eyelet.
-
6
Thread the right lace up through the third eyelet on the right side, skipping one in between. Pull it out the eyelet and run it straight across and down through the third eyelet on the left side. Keep in mind that this lace will run straight across the odd numbered set of eyelets.
-
7
Continue running the right lace up two eyelets and running it straight across until it reaches the last set of eyelets. (At the last set, there will not be one to skip.) Both ends of the laces should run out of the top set of eyelets to lace or leave loose.
