Rain gutters are usually used to divert rain water off of a roof and away from a building's structure. However, rain gutters have other uses. Instead of throwing away a rain gutter that you are not using, you can make a craft that you can display in your house. One craft to make is a picture frame. You can easily transform a rain gutter into a frame that you will be proud to display your pictures in.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the sides of the picture you want to put in the gutter frame. Use a tape measure and write down the measurements.

    • 2

Measure and mark four rain gutter segments that match the dimensions of your photo.

    • 3

Cut the rain gutter into pieces by using a saw to cut on the lines you drew. You can use any saw that cuts metal.

    • 4

Glue the pieces of the gutter together with a hot glue gun. The pieces will resemble the shape of the picture and will either be a rectangular or square shape.

    • 5

Attach backing board to the back of the frame. Make sure you attach the backing board to the edges of the gutter frame so there will be room for the picture to fit in between the frame and board. You can use hot glue, regular glue or tape to attach the backing board.

    • 6

Turn the frame over and slip the picture in between the frame and the backing board. Make sure all the glue is dry before you do so or your picture may get glued to the board or gutter unintentionally.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you wish to paint the gutter, do so before you glue it together.

  • Use a saw according to the manufacturer's instructions to avoid injury.
