How to Connect an HP Laserjet 4050 Printer to a BT Hub
A BT Hub is a device that you can use to hook up multiple electronic devices, such as Internet and computers, to one central location. The BT Hub is also useful for hooking up a print server. You can connect your HP Laserjet 4050 Printer to a BT Hub so that you can use a single printer for multiple computers. This saves you a lot of money, since you are networking each computer to the single HP printer.

Connect a USB cable from the HP printer into an empty port on the BT Hub. Make sure the printer is plugged into an outlet. Power on the printer.

Turn on your computer. Go to "Start > Add New Printer" to start installing your HP Laserjet 4050.

Click on "Add a local printer" from the menu. Let the computer automatically discover the printer. Hit "Next" after it has found the printer.

Choose "Create New Port" and check off the box for TCP/IP. Hit "Next" to continue.

Type in "192.168.1.253" where it says "Printer Name." Hit "Next" to continue.

Choose "Custom > LPR > LPR Byte Counting Enabled." Type in "LPT1" and hit "OK" to save the changes.

Click "Finish" to end the printer setup.
