How to Organic Fish Emulsion Fertilizer

Fish has been used as a fertilizer for centuries. Native Americans taught "New World" settlers to bury fish-heads with their corn seeds. Many growers today prefer to use organic fertilizers over commercially produced. Making your own fish emulsion fertilizer will have profound effects on your garden.

Instructions

1. Grab a 5 gallon bucket. Fill half the bucket with browns like straw, leaves, or saw dust.

2. Throw your fish parts in the bucket. Approximately a couple pounds of fresh fish parts will work good, like the head, innards, bones, and tail. If you use canned fish, rinse the salt off the meat and let it sit out a couple of days before mixing it in the bucket.

3. Grab your molasses. Put in 2 tablespoons in the bucket.

4. Add 2 tablespoon of epsom salt.

5. Add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.

6. Mix the ingredients in your bucket thoroughly. Secure cheese cloth over the top of the bucket to prevent flies from laying maggots and give your fish emulsion breathing space.

7. Continually stir the bucket every couple of days for 2 weeks. The mix ratio for this fish emulsion is 1:1 up to 1:5 to make a nice fishy tea for your garden. Enjoy!
