Wedding invitations can be very expensive and can eat away quickly at your overall wedding budget. Fortunately, wedding invitations do not have to be expensive to look fantastic. Here's how to make your own wedding invitations and save yourself a boatload of money!

Instructions

Decide on your color scheme. Since you've presumably already been planning your wedding, you'll have a color scheme for the event itself. Your invitations should go along with this color scheme. For example, if your wedding colors are pink and white, your invitations should also reflect pink and white with perhaps pink paper or pink accents.

Design your wedding invitations. Most wedding invitations are single sheets, usually about a half sheet of paper, but you can tailor this to your needs. Include information about the bride and groom, the date and time of the ceremony and date and time of the reception. Don't forget to include addresses for all locations. This can be done easily on your computer by creating a text box in Microsoft Word and flipping your text. It's easy to add borders and script.

Visit the local paper or craft store for supplies. Buy some card stock paper in a color and texture you like for your wedding invitations. It should not be thin regular paper as this will look cheap. Also consider picking up some decorations such as mini pearl strings, lace or decorative gems.

Use a laser printer to print out your wedding invitations so the writing looks sharp and expensive. Use a hot glue gun to glue on any extra decorations you like and you're ready to mail out your wedding invitations!
