How to Join the Automobile Association

UK drivers can become members of the Automobile Association.

Drivers in the United Kingdom have the option of joining the Automobile Association (AA), an organization that offers breakdown coverage as well as general automobile insurance. Members of the AA also enjoy other benefits such as hotel discounts, credit card incentives, and even discounts on cases of wine. Becoming a member the AA is relatively easy; you can sign up over the Internet or over the phone.

1. Call 0800-085-2721 to sign up over the phone or visit theAA.com to sign up over the Internet. To sign up over the Internet, see the link in the resource section below.

2. Choose your level of coverage. The AA offers standard roadside assistance (which includes discounts on airport parking and food at Moto). Additionally, you can choose alternative coverages such as alternative travel arrangements if the AA cannot promptly repair your car or the option to transfer your car to a repair shop if roadside assistance does not fix your car.

3. Choose who will be covered under the AA membership. You may add other licensed drivers in your household or even give a membership to a friend or family member if you choose.

4. Pay for the account by relaying your credit card information.
