Instructions

    • 1

Purchase aluminum channel that fits inside the door jamb of the shower door being installed.

    • 2

Create an expansion joint between the aluminum channel and the glass block. Cut a length of compressible glass fiber tape long enough to run from the floor or shower step to the ceiling. Cut a second strip for the other side of the doorway opening. Press the adhesive side of tape to the side of the glass block, forming the doorway opening.

    • 3

Cut a strip of the aluminum channel with a hack saw to fit against the two compressible glass fiber strips. Make sure it fits between the floor or shower step and ceiling. Pre-drill screw holes and attach a steel, right-angle bracket to each end of the two aluminum channel strips.

    • 4

Screw the other end of the steel brackets to the floor or shower step and the ceiling. Pre-drill the holes. Make sure the aluminum channel is positioned tight against the compressible glass fiber.

    • 5

Screw the frame of the shower door to the two strips of aluminum channel.

    • 6

Run a bead of silicone glue wherever the glass block, compressible glass fiber stripping and the aluminum channel meet. Run a total of four beads of silicone glue from floor to ceiling.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the floor or shower step is tiled use a masonry drill bit to make the pre-drilled holes.

  • Make sure the bathroom is ventilated when applying the silicone caulk as it gives off a noxious odor.
