How to Prevent Utorrent From Disconnecting
uTorrent is the bite-sized file-sharing client designed by the company of the same name. The client occasionally disconnects from the Internet or even crashes for seemingly no reason. But with a little effort, you can prevent uTorrent from disconnecting.

1
Double-check the Internet connection and ensure that it is stable and reliable. An unreliable Internet connection is often the problem when uTorrent disconnects. In other words, uTorrent is not actually disconnecting as a result of a programming error, but a faulty Internet connection may be inadvertently causing you to lose your uTorrent connection.

Upgrade to the latest version of uTorret. uTorret is constantly updated, and the previous versions are supported less by the parent company. Thus, to ensure that the client receives the best connections through the most stable networks, it must be updated. Updated versions of uTorrent are available at the uTorrent company website.

Decrease the upload rate. If you are uploading at a rate too fast for your Internet connection, then uTorrent may disconnect. To adjust the setting, open the uTorrent client and select "Options" and then "Preferences." Within the Preferences menu, select Bandwith, and select a lower upload rate (the top right option). Generally speaking, a number is better, with 1 kb/s perhaps providing with the maximum guarantee of stability.

If decreasing the upload rate is not sufficient, then decrease the download rate as well, which is available for adjustment on the same page as the upload rate. The default rates for the upload and download rates are zero, meaning unlimited, which can be problematic and cause the client to crash if your Internet connection cannot sustain those rates. Test various rates out until you find the most suitable.

Tips & Warnings
If decreasing the upload and download rates do not limit uTorrent disconnections, then contact your ISP provider. Occasionally, ISP providers will limit bandwidth usage due to suspicion that a user is uploading copyrighted material. As such, be sure that the material you are downloading and uploading is available for free distribution.
