Obtaining a marriage license in Orlando, Florida, is accomplished by visiting the Orange County Clerk of Courts. The Clerk of Courts maintains an office in the city limits as well as offices in other locations throughout Orange County. The Orange County Clerk of Courts, in compliance with Florida statutes, establishes specific procedures to obtain a marriage license. You do not need to be a resident of Orlando or Orange County--or even of the state of Florida--to obtain a marriage license.

Download the Marriage License Information Sheet off the website of the Orange County Clerk of Courts, myorangeclerk.com. A copy of this document is also available from any one of the five brick-and-mortar offices maintained by the Clerk of Courts. Telephone the Clerk of Courts at 407-836-2067 to obtain the address of the office most convenient for you.

Complete the Marriage License Information Sheet before going to one of the Court Clerk's offices to obtain your actual license. The document is self-explanatory and requires only basic information about both you and your intended.

Attend an approved premarital preparation course before filing your request for a license with the Clerk of Courts. A list of approved providers is available from any one of the offices of the Clerk or online. Only Florida residents need to complete this course.

Go to one of the Clerk of Courts' offices. Both you and your intended must appear at the office together. If you are Florida residents, bring the certificate of completion for the premarital preparation course along with the Marriage License Information Sheet. Residents from any other state need only bring the Information Sheet.

Submit the required documentation. Pay the required filing fee. This fee is subject to change; the fee for a marriage license in Orange County in 2010 was $93.50. There is no waiting period to obtain your marriage license if you are not a resident of Florida or if you are a Floridian who completed the preparation class. If you did not complete the preparation class as a resident, a three-day waiting period is required. A judge can waive the waiting period if you demonstrate the delay will cause a hardship.
