How to Unload My Memory on Startup on My Laptop

How to Unload My Memory on Startup on My Laptop thumbnail
Too many startup programs will slow your computer.

The Windows operating system runs certain programs automatically as soon as you turn on your computer. These programs are called startup programs. Startup programs can be beneficial if you use the same program every time you turn on your computer. In addition, having certain programs, such as your anti-virus program, run automatically will ensure that you do not forget to turn them on. However, the more startup programs you have, the longer it takes for your computer to start. Thus, you may want to delete, or unload, a program like "My Memory" from startup.

Instructions

  1. Windows 7

    • 1

      Click on the "Start" menu.

    • 2

Click on "All Programs," and then click on "Startup." A list of programs that start upon startup will be displayed.

    • 3

Right-click on "My Memory," and select delete. The program will not be deleted, but the program will be unloaded from your startup.

    Windows XP

    • 4

Click on the "Start" menu, and then click on "Run."

    • 5

Type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) into the open box and click "OK." The Windows XP System Configuration Utility window will open.

      Click on the "Startup" tab.

    • 7

Uncheck the box next to "My Memory," and click "Apply," and then click "OK."
