A title insurance agent services a title insurance policy to the borrower applying for a real estate loan when purchasing or refinancing their home. The title insurance agent will underwrite the policy for clearance and protection of any title defects while the property is considered as collateral during the term of the mortgage loan assumed under the borrower's name.

      Prepare to have already worked 2,000 hours in the areas of real estate closings or escrows, based on the information submitted on your license application.

      Contact the Arkansas Insurance Department to request an application called an AID-LI-TA Application to schedule to take the license examination to become a licensed title insurance agent.

      Complete the AID-LI-TA Application accurately and prepare to pay fees of $84. You must pay the department's exam vendor called Pearson Vue by business check, money order or cashier's check; no personal checks accepted. Include the fees along with the application.

      Complete an ASP-122 Application, which is a Criminal Background Report. Prepare to pay $22 payable to the Arkansas Insurance Department Trust Fund. No personal checks accepted.

      Attached the AID-LI-TA Application and the $84 exam fees along with the ASP-122 Criminal Background Application with the $22 and mail it all to Pearson Vue at 1123 South University, Suite 915, Little Rock, AR 72204.

Tips & Warnings

  • Employment verification will be verified by a notarized form called an AID-LI-TA-Aff, which will be submitted to your current or former insurance employer.

  • Once you have received the permit to take the examination, you must call Pearson Vue at 888-204-6254 to schedule for a test date.

  • If you fail the exam, you have to wait 30 days to reapply to take the test again. If you do not contact Pearson Vue within a 90-day period, you have to submit a new application and fees.
