Instructions

  1. Prepare the Quicken data for conversion

    • 1

Make a backup copy of the Quicken data before continuing the steps. Once the conversion is done, the Quicken file will not be available.

    • 2

Delete the accounts in Quicken you do not need anymore. Once in QuickBooks, accounts that contain transactions cannot be deleted.

    • 3

Update the customer names and vendor names in Quicken to make sure each customer and vendor has only one consistent name in use.

    • 4

Review your online transaction accounts and make sure these will be available when using QuickBooks. Check with your bank or financial institution to see what is required to support the QuickBooks transactions. You may not use the same online banking account for both Quicken and QuickBooks.

    • 5

Make all outstanding online payments, both for vendors and the bank, before doing the conversion.

    • 6

Delete the repeating online payments.QuickBooks does not support the repeating online payments. In QuickBooks, the payments are handled as Scheduled Transactions. If these are imported, QuickBooks will not allow you to delete or modify them. After the conversion, you can set up your online accounts in QuickBooks.
